Copy Paste Report Controls

You can copy and paste the controls from one report to another to create a new report. The formatting and style remain the same when the controls are copied.

You can copy and paste a Table, Tablix, Chart, Text Box, etc. from one report to another. If you have formatted all of these controls in one report and you want to use the same controls in a different report, then you do not have to re-create all these controls and format them again. You can simply copy these and paste them into the new report that you want to create.

Listed below is an example of copying and pasting the table from one report to another.

Creating a new report by copying and pasting the table from one report to another

  1. On the Document Portal, go to Create (+) > Create Report.

  2. Select a template of the report. You can choose a Blank RDL Report, a Blank Page Report, or any other report as template from Categories.

  3. Click Create Report.

  4. From the Data Binding tab on the right, select the RetailDatasource dataset, which is already available to us, and click Add.

  5. Add a Table control to the report.

  6. Add the fields to the Table control from the dataset.

  7. Under the Layout section, set the Style property of the table to Medium Style 1 Accent 3.

  1. Now on a different tab, create a new blank report.

  2. Copy the Table control from the first report and paste it into the blank report created in step 8. The Style property for the table is also copied and it is the same as for the first report Medium Style 1 Accent 3.

  3. Add a new column to the table pasted above. The style of the table is the same as Medium Style 1 Accent 3.
