Wyn Enterprise Administration Guide

Wyn Enterprise: Add Attribute

As an administrator, you can manage organization attributes such as name and custom properties in the Admin Portal. Typically, an organization attribute helps you to differentiate between the organizations. For example, you can differentiate multiple sub-organizations based on a demographic attribute like location. Apart from this, you can use an organization attribute to fetch only the required data based on the attribute's value.

Add an Attribute

The following section describes the steps to add an attribute in Wyn Enterprise.

  1. On the Admin Portal, navigate to Account > Organizations.
  2. Click the Organization Schema button on top of the Organizations interface.

    Add a new organization

  3. Click the + Add Property button to add a new attribute.

  4. Fill out the Property Name and select Required (to indicate that property is mandatory) and Multivalued (to indicate that the property is multivalued). In the below example, we created a required organization attribute namely 'Location'.

  5. Finally, click the Add button. Your attribute is now created.

    Note that when you add a new organization or select an existing organization, you get a prompt to enter the value for the newly created attribute 'Location'. Apart from this, you can also specify other properties for the attribute such as Disable Sub-organization edit value and Disable sub-organization view value. These settings would be applicable to its sub-organizations.

Organization Attribute in Connection Strings

You can use organization attribute in the connection string when connecting to a datasource provider in Wyn Enterprise. This enables the users to display the data based on a certain organization's attribute values, that means, a logged-in user can only view the data based on his/her organization attribute value specified by the administrator in the Admin portal. With different user logins, different databases can be connected with same datasource.

The syntax for using a user context attribute in the connection string is as follows, "#{Organization Attribute Name}". In the below example, a user uses the connection string to connect to a datasource and sets the Database parameter as the organization attribute 'Location'.

Server=<server name>;Database=#{Location};User Id=<username>;Password=<password>;
