Wyn Enterprise offers three end-user portals that provide different functionality for different user groups.
- Admin Portal is for admins that configure the server, manage account and security settings.
- Documents Portal is for business end-users, dashboard, and report authors.
- Resource Portal is for data administrators or IT teams. The Resource Portal displays all resources on the server.
In this video, we'll walk through the Wyn Resource Portal.
The Wyn Enterprise Resource Portal is primarily used by data administrators who manage the resources required for designing ad hoc reports and dashboards. This portal allows server administrators to provide selective administrative permissions on end-user resources to a group of power users or specialists. In a multi-tenant environment, it also enables admins to provide tenant-specific resource administration to client admins.
The portal provides functionality to create resources, download and upload them, and manage permissions.
The Categories tab organizes all of your resource items into three categories:
1. Data: This category has all the resources related to data access.

Semantic Models:
Logical and hierarchical data models that help translate the technical data structures from database tables and views into real-world entities, attributes, and relationships to help guide the business users during report design. -
Data Sources:
Connections to relational databases, NoSQL data sources, file-based sources, and a host of web-based data sources.
This set of resources allow the resource admins to define where the data is coming from in a secured environment. This also allows for adding built-in data filters based on user context to drive data governance rules. -
Datasets:
These are the detailed level of the data that is used in dashboards and reports. Resource admins can use the dataset designer for a drag-and-drop experience to define complex data queries, joins, and expressions to define the set of data available to end-users to create their self-service dashboards and ad hoc reports.
2. Documents: Dashboards and reports

Documents:
In the Documents tab, you can interact with your dashboards and reports. From here, you can view the documents in the built-in viewers, open them in new tabs, download, or even edit the reports and dashboards. Clicking either “Edit” button will automatically launch the respective web-based designers.
From here, any user with the appropriate permissions can use the intuitive designers to modify their visual dashboards and ad hoc or enterprise reports.
Users can also create such documents from scratch from within the “Create” menu. -
Dashboards:
In addition to what we saw in the Document Portal, this area also allows the resource admin to download these dashboards to move them from one server to another.
This is especially useful for moving content from test servers to production without needing to have the operations support team involved. -
Reports:
Similar to the Dashboards, this area allows the resource admin to work with the Reports that they have permissions for.
3. Others: Templates, images, and themes

Templates:
These are special types of reports that can be used as a starting point for end-users. Resource admins can create a set of templates with pre-selected data and standard formatting to provide end-users with a starting point for their ad hoc reporting.
Not only does this save time for the end-user, but it also makes it easier for them to focus on the meat of the report design rather than the standard setup tasks for a report. -
Images:
These are images that are hosted by the server and can be used in reports and dashboards. These would typically include logos, icons, and other product images. -
Themes:
The main objective of themes is to allow for consistency in the dashboard and report design throughout the organization.
The ability to add/modify/remove themes using the built-in theme editor from the resource portal ensures that the resource admin can control the corporate branding and colors across all their reports.
The Create tab, allows resource admins to easily create all of these resources. You can also quickly access the information of any resource item and assign different permissions to them.
Using the context menu, you can perform other actions such as editing, renaming, deleting, or downloading any resource item. You can also connect to many different data sources from the Resource Portal.
The Resource Portal also allows you to directly add any resource item either by browsing the file or by using a simple drag and drop action. The portal analyzes the file type and automatically adds it to the respective resource category.
As you can see, the Resource Portal helps administrators manage and govern the organization's resources available to the end-users without the involvement of server admins.
These resources range from data sources to pre-designed documents as well as resources to drive consistency across the dashboard and report design.
With these resources, the end-user experience using dashboards and reports or even designing ad hoc ones is substantially more intuitive and easy to use.
